New portholes made a big difference in restoring the authentic, original look of the light.

South Haven’s Lighthouse is shiny Red once Again

Workers spent Tuesday and Wednesday repainting the lighthouse from the bottom up approximately 12 feet.

The lighthouse underwent a major restoration in 2016. This time the repainting work was do to periodic maintenance on the iconic structure.

South Haven’s lighthouse is maintained by the Historical Association of South Haven (HASH) with support from the City of South Haven.

Plaque Recognizing Major Donors Installed

These plaques describe the “Save the Light Capital Campaign” and list the major donors to the campaign. The hundreds of small donors are also celebrated. The plaques are located on the commemorative brick plaza on the south beach near the concession stand.

Jim and Ed recognized for their service to South Haven

The City Council on Monday night adopted Proclamations recognizing Jim Ollgaard and Ed Appleyard for their lifelong community service, including their commitment to the Historical Association of South Haven.

South Pier Light
